Table Call Vertical Alignment Change

Is there an option for altering the vertical alignment in a table cell. Everytime I use a table, the text aligns in the center, and would like to default to top.

The TableOperations plugin allows you to do this. If you enable this plugin, click into a table cell, and click the "Cell Properties" toolbar button, you should see a vertical align popup menu.
