I already read through and tried to follow the instructions at the Plugin:SpellChecker page here... http://xinha.webfactional.com/wiki/SpellChecker
I downloaded the "aspell-linux-x86.tar.bz2 (4.1 MB)" zipped file listed at the link above, decompressed it and dropped all the files from it into the SpellChecker folder and updated it to my server. But it's still not working.
Here's a link to my current Xinha form. http://www.uburn.org/rte_form.html,
I'm using Xinha Release: 0.95 (Do, 01 Mai 2008 14:33:36 +0200)
I can tell that there is a dictionary working somewhere because mis-spelled text will occasionally have a red line appear under it, but only under odd circumstances.
My main concern is that when you click on the "SpellChecker" button, it always says that "no mis-spelled words were found in the current dictionary" and I notice that there are no dictionaries listed in the dictionary list.
Please help me! And please believe that I've already spent several hours trying to find a solution in the other tickets and forum threads.
I did find a similar thread http://www.xinha.org/punbb/viewtopic.php?id=136 but couldn't decipher what to do. I really don't want to have to do all the tests that kimss mentioned about the shell_exec(). But is that what I'm going to have to do to have any chance of getting SpellChecker to work?
I'm struggling here.
Thanks,

Thank you so much for your help James. I know how to create a file called "example.php" and include the code in it. But I don't know through what interface I can run the file, let alone be able to tell whether or not it was successful. You say, "PHP setup", but I don't know what that is. I'm not a PHP or javascript programmer. I understand PERL and do CGI files for the web, and know how to run Putty, but I really need explicit instructions in order to do this stuff. Otherwise I get lost.
Should I post this as another forum topic? I don't want to waste your time on this, but I feel like there's got to be a way for a newbie to get this to work.
Thanks again!

As for your problem, the red lines are probably done by the browser itself rather than Xinha (I know that Firefox does this in recent versions of it). I would suggest following the advice in that thread and check that you are able to execute the aspell binary from your PHP setup.
