Strange, complex Image Manager issue

I did some searches, but I wasn't able to find any results of interest.

This problem is sort of complicated:

1) when I  upload an image thru xinha's ImageManager, some images don't generate a thumbnail.
2) inserting these thumbnail-less images places a "display:none" tag into the image tag.
3) Switching to HTML mode and removing this tag has no effect: as soon as I switch back to WYSIWYG mode, the "display:none" style tag comes back.
4) Inexplicable, some images do this, some do not. I have checked the formats in photoshop and have not found any problems.
5) I have been playing with permissions on the folders and the file permissions, but nothing has worked.
6) I experienced a permissions change of 644 to 666 of another unrelated image that was sitting in the folder where I was doing this.

That is the jist of it... Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Re: Strange, complex Image Manager issue

Update:
A FF plugin may have been the problem. Starting in safe mode returned all to normal. Now to track down the offending plugin... I'll post here when I find it.
