getElementById on elements inside Xinha

A plugin I've been writing inserts a placeholder into the document during editing time, and on save and load changes it between the actual content and the placeholder. In doing this I've been having trouble accessing elements inside the editors document though, I've been trying:

doc.body.getElementById(....

where doc is specified by this._doc and is a valid object.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

it's only doc.getElementById()

Are you using FireBug? You should, it's a must for js development and could have answered your questions within a few clicks
