Help - Spell Check

I want to be able to user the Spell Checker plugin but I don't have a clue how to use it. It is not as simple as putting aspell in the directory I've tried, it cannot find any misspelled words when I test it.

Can someone tell me step by step how to set up the Spell Checker pluging (PHP)

Or is there an AJAX spell check plugin I can get like the gmail one as I think that works better.

There is also the ClientSideSpellcheck plugin, but that only works for IE AFAIK.
