Z-index IE...

Hello I've got question-problem with Idiot Explorer (IE). I have fancy looking menu based on dives. It looks like vertical dropdown menu that partially covers xinha component. Here comes the question, how high on z-axis i have to place it to cover your component. Ive curently set z-index=50 (it works perfectly in FF) but in IE dropdowns with format/font/size just cant be covered by nothing. It looks pretty messy so or im going to move somewhere else Xinha component (that it wont be covered by menu) or ban IE users (which i would like more;)).

BTW. this Xinha is great stuff. In the name of many web-developers i thank you for it;) Great job!
Best regards

Re: Z-index IE...

It used to be, perhaps still is for IE, that selects ("dropdowns") cannot be covered by layers, they always show through.  If it works in Firefox, and not IE, blame IE for not fixing that very old problem.  Check in the latest IE you can get hold of.

Re: Z-index IE...

I stumbled across this article recently:

http://www.brainjar.com/dhtml/menubar/

that includes a workaround for this problem. He puts an iframe behind the menu to mask the dropdown. It's a fair amount of trouble to go to, but he claims it works. For what it's worth....
