Writing Plugins

After trying to figure out how plugins in Xinha work for myself by reading the source files and browsing the wiki, I am here in the hopes that someone can shed some light on how this works.

I have developed my own file management application for handling links and images.   Up till a recent update, I've been just replacing the "link" and "insert_image" dialogues with my own.  This has worked alright, though I've had to hack in a work-around for the auto-resize feature of popup.js, since it does not work with my file manager.

Recently I updated Xinha to the latest release, and when I did this, my hacks all broke.  Rather than continue to hack away or replace core Xinha files, I thought it would be for the best if I just developed my own plugins for this, so that when I do updates, I'm less likely to break functionality.

What I'd really like is to replace the default "link" and "insert_image" dialogues with my own, i.e. you click on those buttons, you get my popups and my plugin rather than the default ones.

So, if anyone would be so kind as to assist with a brief tutorial on how to do this, I'd be very grateful.

Before anyone asks, I cannot use any of the useful link and image management solutions already developed for Xinha.  My framework is entirely custom, and has it's own file management utilities that make it incompatible with any of those solutions.

If anyone knows of any links to where this is already documented and explained, I'd be happy to have those too.

Thanks!
