milli's logo is really awesome, I'd go for that one. hyp0r's logo is great too. completesite's logo would be fantastic without the shadows (the shadows behind behind the "XINHA" text, and tiny ones behind "WYSIWYG editor" are unnessecary imho).
imo, don't pick a logo with lots of effects 'n stuff going on. A problem nowdays is that it's so easy to add effects to pictures, like drop shadows, glows, bevel, satin etc. so people tend to overuse it a lot
Must say as well milli's logo is great. But about the bevel/shadow you are wright, but not the way milli used it. Mirrored, fading out, hardly there... that you don't see a lot and makes it look realy nice to me
Cheers

If you can't see them, it's not due to my fault, but server settings try to copy&paste link directly into url

True, they have enabled hotlinking - so if the referer tag is set to something else then their site or nothing you dont get the image, Kinda a bandwith saver for them however.

Hi, here are my sketches for that great Xinha.
I tried to keep my proposals quite simple, clean and with a bit of techno feeling.
My favourite is this one:
Above some variations:

Okay...I'll bite. Here's a variation of TiCo's 2nd logo. Just trying to yum it up a bit.

Yep Rift, you're absolutely right: giving them a second glance, the second one is by far better in his concept. Your variations are good, but i'd avoid shadows and bevels in the base logo, strictly confining the job into the vector area. I'd also keep a squarish char instead of a rounded one, providing more crispness at reduced size. However me too I played a little around the 2nd previous sketch, refining a bit my original idea.
I find this new 2 versions both quite well balanced:
A more compact one:
And even if i do prefer clean flat vector shapes, here some rasterized variations with a light touch of gradient and shadow effects. This could be ok as header logo.

This is all done as vector art in Illustrator. Just trying to give it some depth. I like clean too, but the medium used for xinha most likely will always be web, not print, in all of its yummy, soft, gooey feel (not that I am a huge fan of that). Here's the logo without depth:

Depending on how the logo is used, the crispness won't be much of an issue as long as the vector art is used to create it. Squarish fonts are sometimes more difficult to read.

Ops, ok i thought the source was raster. My fault

Uhm, here i don't totally agree with you:) But aside from technical aspects, telling the truth, my squarish preference is 'cause i find it quite appropriate , don't know... maybe a good match with the geometry of the simbol and the tecnological nature of Xinha. But i know, it's just a matter of personal taste. I'm referring to my version of course. You rounded a bit the simbol making it more "soft and gently" and so your char style is a coherent choice.

rift and tico -- beautiful stuff!

Riftdesign and TiCo, looking at the contributed logoes at this time I think we might have a winner here. I think the original concept by TiCo is a cool variant, but as Riftdesign spotted it could be "to much" for a great logo which tends to be clean and easy to spot even small. Problem with the original concept arises if you try to create a 16x16 pixel variant for an icon - there the Riftdesign variant would be much more usefull - hence a better sollution.
Looking at the rastered / beweled version, I tend to like having a logo in different formats. I like having the logo in 1 colour, 2/3 colour and a FX variant used for web, if presented large enough that is. Having a simple logo which is easy to spot is far more important than having a fancy logo, which for many people can be hard to spot or see the details.
I think it is time to deside what logo to go for people.

Hi Kimss, i agree with you, except for problems at smaller size. Just to show it, here a quick demonstration specific for the web: a 32x32 icon and a 16x16 icon (favicon.ico) both in 16 color, and a pixel font version of the text, useful for instance in flash works.

bye bye

Just in case you wanted to see some options...
I don't know if TiCo is changing to use the square logo (the logo I am basing off of had the X on the opposite side)...Nice job TiCo. I am not trying to make this into some forum fight either...just wanting to give something back to this great editor.

You are completely right, I cant accually agree with myself when I think about it. Your logo looks crisp and sharp as a little icon. The more I look at this logo the more I like it, but I still cant deside if I like the crisp sharp look in yours or the more soft XP'ish look on riftdesign. I guess it all depends on what moode you are in.

I did a quick lookup of a bunch of tech companies that have "X" in their names, just to make sure we're not about to infringe on anyone's artwork. Happily, I only found one company whose logo is remotely like rift or tico's hidden-X design: Xtention. (http://www.xtention.com) Their logo is:
For my money, the best logos so far are indeed these two hidden-X designs:
Like kimss says, it's sort of a matter of mood as to which one works. I think in either case, it's not any sort of infringement on xtension's logo.

Hey. I'm new around here (though I have been using xinha for quite long time now) and I just though making something to rest my nerves between coding and what would be better than logo for xinha.
