Seemingly simple mod

I am trying to figure out how to modify Xinha's "createlink button as follows and any help would be appreciated. Right now if you click on the link button without having previously selected some text - it gives you an error: "You need to select some text before creating a link"

I would like it instead to insert some arbitrary text and use that for the label of the url. Most obvious choice would be the url itself. I.e. if I put a link to http://digg.com I would like to see the html: <a href="http://digg.com">http://digg.com</a> inserted.

imho better is eg.
"...also <a href="http://digg.com">digg</a> has some information about that....."

why write the full href as text, its allready in the link? better is to describe what you can expect behind the link!
