OT: AreaEdit 0.4.1 available for download.

A little off topic. Several people asked me to let them know when my AreaEdit fork (originally known as the unified backend branch of Xinha) would be available.

It's now been packaged up and is available for download from:

     http://www.areaedit.com

Chances are you will want to use Xinha instead of AreaEdit. Xinha is more actively developed, has vastly more features, appeals to a wider audience, has more developers and will progress more rapidly than AreaEdit ever will. Also , where Xinha is backend agnostic, AreaEdit very much favors PHP and the sample distribution I've put together assumes PHP is available.

There are many bugfixes and features in Xinha that have not made it into AreaEdit.

Having said all that, if you are trying to come up to speed on the Xinha internals, AreaEdit may provide for a nice starting point before jumping into the Xinha code itself. AreaEdit is better commented and does have a tracing system that will show you how all the pieces fit together.  Alot of stability bugs (esp under FireFox) have been fixed and error messages are improved in many cases. At least for me, AreaEdit is much easier to debug than the Xinha code.

Thanks. If you have a chance, please check out the code and let me know if you think it's easier to follow than the mainline Xinha code.
