Xinha in jQuery.UI tabs - a potential solution/workaround

I had a need in formVista to put a Xinha editor in an unselected jQuery.UI tab. The unselected tab is in a hidden div which confuses Xinha to no end. I seem to have it working. In the hope that it'll save someone else some time, I've written up a short summary of what I did:
