Saving UTF-8 files and the BOM

When storing UTF-8 files for most people to have any use of, will this be with the BOM or without the BOM? A good example is saving a file as UTF-8 from Homesite and opening it in Texpad. The file will not be recognized, same goes the other way. The results are also bad since the file can easilly be converted to ANSI or something in the process destroying the file.

I know that removing the BOM can easilly be done by opening the file with TopStyle and saving it again. I did some tests and it didnt seem like .js files had any problems loading with BOM, but I ask anyway to be sure.

Anyone have an opinion on this? With BOM or without BOM?

homesite got a BOM (Byte Order Mark) bug : http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowl … d=tn_19059

byte order is meaningless for UTF8 and is optional. And i dont really want to see "" (EF BB BF) at the beginning of my documents ehe

My opinion is without BOM.

In that case I should fix my files and remove the BOM, probably edit theese files in TextPad or so instead, thanks for the advice.
