Pass parameter to Insert Image

I would like to be able to pass the URL of an image to Insert Image. Here is the scenario: We allow users to upload their own images to our webserver. When they do, we don't use the name they gave the image, we assign it our own unique name, storing the "friendly" name in the database. So I need to use the "real" name in Insert Image. I looked at the code for Insert Image and noticed that there is a parameter called f_url in the dialog arguments. How do I pass an argument to the Insert Image dialog? Thanks!
